Oasis - Whats The Story

Oasis, initially known as the Rain, was a prominent English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The original lineup included Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). Liam's older brother, Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, vocals), joined a few months later. While the group experienced several lineup changes, the Gallagher brothers remained its core members.
In 1993, Oasis signed with the independent record label Creation Records and released their groundbreaking debut album, "Definitely Maybe" (1994). The album quickly became the fastest-selling debut in British history, topping the UK Albums Chart. The following year, they released "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" (1995), featuring new drummer Alan White, and engaged in a high-profile chart rivalry with Blur. The album spent ten weeks at number one in the UK and achieved immense international success, becoming one of the best-selling albums globally. It holds the distinction of being the fifth-best-selling album in the UK and the biggest-selling album of the 1990s in the UK.
Oasis gained notoriety for the disputes and wild lifestyles of the Gallagher brothers, which were frequently covered in tabloid newspapers. In 1996, they performed historic concerts at Knebworth, drawing audiences of 125,000 each night, the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at the time. The band continued their success with the release of "Be Here Now" in 1997, breaking records as the fastest-selling UK chart album.
The departure of McGuigan and Arthurs in 1999 marked a shift for Oasis, who continued with new members Gem Archer and Andy Bell. Subsequent studio albums included "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants" (2000), "Heathen Chemistry" (2002), "Don't Believe the Truth" (2005), and "Dig Out Your Soul" (2008). Oasis abruptly disbanded in August 2009 after Noel Gallagher's departure.
As of 2009, Oasis had sold over 75 million records globally, making them one of the most successful acts on the UK Singles Chart and Albums Chart. They achieved eight UK number-one singles and albums, along with three Platinum albums in the US. The band received numerous awards, including 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards, and six Brit Awards. Notably, they won the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2007 and "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?". Oasis was also nominated for two Grammy Awards.
